Moderator's Biography
Dr. Jen-Hung Yang graduated from the National Yang-Ming University (NYU) School of Medicine (MD) in 1985 and the Institute of Clinical Medicine (Ph.D.) of NYU in 1994. He completed his dermatology residency training at Veterans General Hospital Taipei (1985-1991). He was the Chairman of the Department of Dermatology at China Medical University and Hospital in Taichung, Taiwan (1991-1995). Then he was appointed as the Director of Faculty Development Center (2006-2009), Vice-Director of School of Medicine (2006-2008), and Director of School of Medicine (2009-2010), and Dean of College of Medicine of Chung Shan Medical University (CSNU). Subsequently, he was appointed as the Dean of Tzu Chi University College of Medicine (2011-2019), and vice Super-intendant of Tzu Chi General Hospital at Hualien (2011-13), and then the Chief Education Director of Changhua Christian Hospital in Taiwan (2019-2020).
Currently, he is Professor
of Dermatology at Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU), Director of the Center of
Medical Education and Humanities of KMU, and Vice Super-intendant of KMU
Hospital. He has been the Council Member of the Taiwan Medical Accreditation
Council (TMAC) since 2012 and was appointed as the CEO of the TMAC, and is the
senior accreditor of the Joint Commission of Taiwan (JCT) since 2010. He is
also the Chairman of the International Committee of the Taiwan Association of
Medical Education (TAME). His scholarly interests in medical education are
mainly in curriculum design, faculty development, professionalism, and
humanities. In addition, he investigated the effects of mitochondrial mutations
on human skin aging and the inflammatory mechanisms of α-hydroxy acids (AHAs)
and other chemical compounds on human skin cells for years. He has published
more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles in dermatological science and
medical education.
