Moderator's Biography

Dr. Patrick Liu Chin San currently is the Vice Superintendent and Director of Vascular and Genomic Center of Changhua Christian Hospital in Taiwan. He received his Ph.D. degree in 1998 at the Institute of Clinical Medicine of National Yang-Ming University. Dr. Patrick is a registered neurologist dedicating to medical service and clinical research, especially in mitochondrial medicine and inherited neurodegeneration diseases. Dr. Liu is continuously devoted to mitochondrial medicine and metabolic diseases translational research. The undergoing research includes 1) the molecular regulation of mitochondrial dynamics, especially spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3), and 2) different strategies of mitochondrial therapy such as medical treatment, infrared light radiation interventions, and peptide-mediated mitochondrial delivery of mitochondria organelles to decrease mitochondrial radical production and oxidative damage.
